It is important to note that this was demonstrated with the horse moving at trot and at speed with a rider on board - not in a laboratory. In addition, Prolite pads have a central webbing spine that helps them maintain stability under the saddle - they are not prone to slipping down onto the wither (this was shown to happen in some designs during a pilot study of galloping horses).
